In the year 2000, Rosanna Buontempo, founder of Sydney’s Organic Hair Co, began her organic journey.
“I was always drawn to health and fitness and loved to research.”
This awakening set her on a path toward making informed choices about what she consumed and applied to her body, from food to skincare and hair care. At the start of her journey, Rosanna was astonished by the sheer number of chemicals present in everyday products both edible and topical. What began as curiosity quickly evolved into a passion for learning and exploration, as she knew her health would ultimately benefit from the choices she made.
This newfound knowledge and lifestyle naturally shaped the hair care brands Rosanna chose to stock in her Sydney salon.
Twenty years ago, at Hair Expo, Rosanna came across the EverEscents Organic Hair Care stand and was instantly captivated. After meeting Luke Charters, co-owner of EverEscents, she quickly realised their values were deeply aligned.
“When I looked over the ingredients of the products, I couldn’t believe how congruent and clean they were and loved the thought of also supporting a start-up Australian Company.”
Before discovering EverEscents, Rosanna faced a challenge in recommending clean hair care products to her clients. She often had to recommend health food store products which failed to deliver the professional results she required as a hairdresser. She also found that many brands marketed as “natural” or “organic”, still contained synthetic chemicals and artificial fragrances, and she was not happy to use these on her clients.
“Once I got the EverEscents products into my salon Organic Hair Co, I was thrilled to see they were delivering absolutely beautiful results for my clients.”
Rosanna has always been deeply mindful of how her personal and business choices impact both people and the environment. From the very beginning of her journey with EverEscents, she was committed to reducing waste and keeping bottles out of landfill, long before plastic recycling became common.
Driven by this commitment and her passion for innovative business practices, Rosanna introduced the EverEscents Refill System in her salon, where it quickly proved to be a success. Better for the planet, better for clients, and better for the business.
The refill initiative encouraged clients to return to the salon through discounted refill pricing, helping to build long term loyalty. Since introducing the program, Organic Hair Co has seen a significant number of clients continue to refill their bottles year after year.
One of Rosanna’s clients has been refilling her bottles since the very first EverEscents design was introduced. Just imagine how many bottles this one commitment alone has saved from landfill.

Rosanna’s passion and commitment to natural and organic products have made a meaningful difference to the health and wellbeing of both her team and her clients.
“When you open the door to enter the Salon, you can smell and feel the difference. Our clients don’t get bombarded and overwhelmed with smells that they must tolerate for 2-3 hours while they have their hair done.”
Over her 20-year journey of living a low-tox, organic lifestyle, Rosanna has had the privilege of watching her team members embrace the same path. One hairdresser, Bianca, was taking up to six antihistamines a day when she first joined Organic Hair Co. After discovering that her severe allergies were linked to chemical exposure in her previous salons, Bianca was able to stop taking the medication altogether. Today, she has now gone on to open her own Organic salon, Organic Hair Sydney.
Rosanna has fostered a space where health and wellbeing are truly encouraged and valued, gently guiding her staff and clients on a journey toward a healthier lifestyle in every sense.
She has also learned so much from her staff and clients, as like-minded individuals come together in open, meaningful conversations, sharing personal experiences and journeys toward a healthier lifestyle.
“I also love knowing we have many pregnant ladies come to our salon as they want to protect their health. Some of my favourite moments are when Mums breastfeed their bubs in the chair knowing it is a safe and healthy environment.”
With the knowledge Rosanna has gained over the years and the lived experience, she is now embarking on a new journey to help others integrate healthier choices within the hairdressing industry. Salon Wellness Academy is Rosanna’s latest venture, dedicated to raising awareness around conscious choices with a goal to create education events.
