After many years in large, busy hair salons, Kathleen and Leila both had major burn out.
“We loved hair, but felt something needed to shift”
They decided to slow everything right down and re-evaluated ‘hair’ as they knew it. Kitara Studio was birthed – creating a space for relaxation and organic hair.
Their salon offers one-on-one studio time, allowing time and energy to really consult with their clients about their hair needs and concerns and importantly, offering holistic solutions.
Since opening the Salon in 2021, Kitara Studio has been involved in the Sustainable Salons Program and have committed to choosing recycled, biodegradable, eco-friendly and natural options wherever possible.
The Sustainable Salon Program allows us to recycle up to 95% of all salon waste including boxes, plastic, metal and even hair!

Kathleen and Leila searched for a long time to find a hair care brand that aligned with their values and sustainable practices. This approach led them to EverEscents Organic Hair Care.

“A personal favourite of mine is the Berry Blonde Treatment. I have very thick, dry hair and this helps with some serious nourishment for my locks”
Kathleen also loves the Bergamot Shampoo as it is a beautifully balancing and cleansing shampoo for a deep clean without striping the hair of natural oils.’
Kitara Studio is finding that new clients have never been offered alternative options when it comes to colours, cuts and products and often don’t realise that using less can help create the natural result they are looking for.
Kathleen and Leila pride themselves on educating clients about the value of using methods and products with a holistic approach to achieving truly healthy hair.
