2015 EverEscents Christmas Packs

It’s that time of the year again! It seems to come around so quick every year. We are very excited about this year’s Christmas Pack as it is a new format and we think you are all going to love them!!

The gift packs include a Bonus 100ml Limited Edition Deep Treatment and a 250ml Shampoo and Conditioner of your choice. All of this is packed into a beautiful toiletry bag which is made from Hessian. Does anyone know where Hessian comes from? We didn’t, so we had to find out and we were so impressed with the information that we decided to make our Xmas gift bag out of it.

Hessian comes from the Jute plant….

It is a sturdy natural organic fibre, which is the most eco-friendly, biodegradable and recyclable natural fibre in the world. It also plays a vital social role in the livelihood of millions of marginal rural peoples in the world. This helps EverEscents meet our goals of social responsibility and ethical business practices.

Jute is a rain-fed crop similar to bamboo, which grows very fast with little need for fertilizer or pesticides, which is much more desirable compared to other plant resources with heavy requirements such as cotton.

Jute plants are tall and thin with small leaves and white flowers. Jute thrives in warm moist areas and is native to Asia. Jute is very easy to grow and the plants will reach maturity in 4-6 months.

Once Jute is harvested and soaked in water it becomes the fabric which is also known as “Burlap” or “Hessian”. It’s brown and fairly rough in its raw state but won’t irritate your allergies.

So, why is Jute so eco-friendly?

  • It’s 100% natural, no synthetic materials.
  • It’s 100% biodegradable.
  • Jute grows very fast and it doesn’t need pesticides or fertilizers to grow.
  • Jute makes the best yarns and commercial packaging…even stronger than synthetic fibres and materials.

Jute pulp is very similar to wood pulp. Current crops of Jute could meet the world’s wood needs (without having to harvest any more trees) once we start to use Jute pulp in place of timber pulp.
